How does a Hybrid Car work? How is it 'green' ?

A hybrid vehicle uses an electric motor to supplement rather than replace a petrol engine. Some vehicles can operate entirely on their electric engines at low speed, and for very short distances. Otherwise, the electric engine is used occasionally, to slightly reduce fuel consumption, and allow the car manufacturers to pat themselves on the back.

How do I charge a Hybrid Car? Do I have to plug it in?

The battery pack for the electric motor recharges itself automatically when decelerating through something called 'regenerative braking', as well as when cruising. So, no, you don't need to plug it in!

1.	Honda Civic Hybrid Auto - The Honda Civic Hybrid features the Honda Integrated Motor Assist IMA® technology, which uses a 1.3-litre i-VTEC® engine for primary power, then an ultra-thin electric motor provides added power. 2.	Toyota Prius Hybrid Auto - The Toyota boasts Power tilt/slide moonroof with Solar Powered Ventilation System and Remote Air Conditioning System. It has a 1.8 litre petrol engine and a 100Kw electric one. It achieves an EPA-estimated city/highway fuel economy of 51 city/48 hwy miles per gallon. See the Toyota Prius Website for more details
3.	Lexus RX 400L Hybrid - Unlike mild hybrids, the Lexus are capable of driving in Electric Vehicle (EV) mode. In EV mode, progress is near silent, no fuel is burnt and zero emissions are produced. Lexus claim to have a Combined fuel consumption of 44.8 miles per gallon. See Lexus.com for more..
